About the Guest House
Papkert Guest House is a newly built accommodation operated by the Unitarian congregation of Homoródalmás. Located in the peaceful garden of the Unitarian parsonage and within easy walking distance of the village center, the guest house offers comfortable lodging in a tranquil rural setting.
The facility can accommodate up to twenty-six guests in double rooms, each featuring a private bathroom. At present, the guest house is primarily available for groups, making it an ideal location for church retreats, camps, educational programs, and community gatherings.
Nearby Attractions
The village’s Unitarian church stands at the heart of the community, accompanied by a memorial dedicated to the Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence of 1848–1849. Other local attractions include the Roman Catholic church, a memorial room dedicated to the writer Gyula Szabó, a traditional village house museum, and the local Salt Spring (Sóskút) and bathing area. Visitors can also learn about local traditions through an artisanal cheese-making workshop in the village.
Exploring the Region
The Papkert Guest House serves as an excellent base for exploring some of the most remarkable natural and historical sites of the Homoród region. The famous Almás Cave and the spectacular Vargyas Gorge can be reached on foot from the village and are among the region’s most popular natural attractions.
Visitors can discover the medieval church of Homoródkarácsonyfalva (Crăciunel), renowned for its Saint Ladislaus frescoes, as well as the historic Unitarian churches of Ocland and Homoródszentmárton (Mărtiniș). The mineral springs of Kiruly and Szeltersz are also popular nearby destinations, offering visitors the opportunity to taste the region’s famous natural mineral waters.
